Large and hard to reduce waistlines are results of not just poor exercise and over-eating, but rather the result of poor food choice, even in low quantities. Some foods cause inflammation naturally making our stomachs inflamed. Our immune systems attack certain types of foods in a process similar to when bitten by a mosquito, have a bruised knee or reacting to an allergen. Constantly eating these inflammatory foods keeps your immune system at work, which can lead to weight gain, digestive issues, and diseases that range from diabetes to cancer. Here are some inflammatory foods that you should avoid.

Cooking Oils

Some of the most common vegetable cooking oils like corn, sunflower, and grape seed contain high concentrations of omega-6 fatty acids that lead to inflammation. These oils are popular in foods cooked in homes, restaurants and are also found in many prepackaged foods. Replace these oils with moderate use of extra virgin olive oil with have lower concentrations of omega-6 fatty acids.

Fried Foods

It should come to no surprise to you that fried foods are bad for you. They are some of the leading inflammatory foods that most people will consume on a daily basis that should be avoided. These foods enlarge your body at the cellular level. Enlarged cells release agents that result in chronic inflammation.

Dairy Products

Dairy is a common allergy throughout the world. It can cause inflammation in those that are not lactose intolerant as well. Researchers consider it abnormal in the natural world that humans consume milk past their infant years. Full-fat dairy products are normally high in saturated fats and can potentially destroy gut microbiome making it harder to digest foods.

Artificial Sugars

While many artificial sugars and sweeteners offer lower calories, they can still cause, as much, if not more harm to the body compared to natural sugars. Consuming artificial sugars can confuse the body and make glucose digestion difficult which could result in a glucose intolerance. Healthy bacteria in the gut act as a natural anti-inflammatory army. These sweeteners destroy microbiota in the gut allowing inflammation to occur.

Processed Meats

Processed meats such as hot dogs, bologna, and sausage contain a large mix of ingredients that can cause inflammation. They typically contain preservatives, artificial colorings, and artificial flavorings that your body doesn’t naturally accept as digestible foods.

Alcohol

Drinking alcohol in excessive amounts causes irritation in throat, liver, and stomach; promoting inflammation that you should avoid. Chronic irritation and inflammation from alcohol have the chance of developing into cancer. High consumption levels also weaken the immune system making it harder for your body fight infection and disease. In moderation, alcohol has the potential of offering anti-inflammatory effects from probiotics in wines and beer.

Refined Grains

Common grains such as white rice, white flour, noodles, biscuits, and pastries are created in abundance by using refining processes that make them look better, taste better, and extend shelf life. Through the refinement processes, vital natural nutrients and vitamins disappear from the final product. The resulting product has a higher glycemic index that causes inflammation.
