How To Be More Active In 2021
Posted on Jan 07, 2021

The year 2020 has not been the best year on many levels. With the pandemic, we faced quarantine, shutdowns, and work from home policies.

During these times, many of us fell into a slump of little to no exercise and stress-eating. There is no reason to feel down about gaining some extra weight during 2020, as many of us are right there with you.

Some gyms are beginning to open back up with masking and social distancing policies in place, but many of us still want to stay cautious about being around too many strangers right now.

No problem! There is always a lot we can do at home to be more active in the year 2021.

START SMALL

We do not want to jump in too hard at the start. You might burn yourself out too quickly and not maintain a steady and healthy exercise plan.

There are a lot of basic exercises you can do with little or no equipment needed. Here are just a few examples of easy, equipment-free exercises:

  • Push-ups
  • Sit-ups
  • Squats
  • Lunges
  • Jumping jacks are possible.

Start with an achievable number of pushups, sit-ups, and lunges that will not have you too exhausted!

Do these short bursts of exercises multiple times throughout the day.

Try to shoot for a total of at least 30 mins of activity each day and slowly start to build your endurance up to longer and more strenuous sessions.

If you are totally out of shape, start with just 5 minutes a day of exercise and build from there.

GO FOR A WALK

Go for a walk around your neighborhood or a local park. Wear a pair of comfortable, supportive shoes, and start walking at a relaxed and regular pace.

Walking is one of the best exercises available. A light sweat by the end of your walk would be ideal, but not necessary.

You should shoot for at least a 15-minute walk every day. And as a bonus, you are getting outside, which can positively affect your mental health after spending months at home.

GET PLENTY OF SLEEP

Sleep does a number of wonders from the body, from lowering stress levels to replenishing your muscles and tissues. As a rule of thumb, you should be getting a minimum of 7 hours of sleep each night, though 8-9 hours is preferable.

We know that it can be hard to get a restful nights sleep - but that's where our Tart Cherry Extract Supplement can help.

This supplement contains one ingredient only: Tart Cherry Extract.

Not only is this extract fantastic for alleviating inflammation, it is also a natural source of melatonin!

Take this supplement before bed to drift off to sleep easily and deeply, leaving you rejuvenated for the next day.

TRY AT-HOME YOGA

You do not need a studio or yoga class to get the benefits of a great yoga session!

There are many videos available for free on Youtube, whether you are a beginner or a pro.

Many of these yoga session videos focus on different yoga workouts, such as upper body strength, lower back pain, and even ones for stress management!

If you have no experience with this type of exercise, start with beginner sessions only.

We generally recommend guided yoga as the outcomes are better, but at-home-yoga is better than no-yoga-at-all!

Getting back into the swing of things this year may be challenging for many of us, but we all can push through and achieve our goals. It may take some time, but keep at it and you are bound to reap the benefits of your work!

Start slow and give yourself time. We have all had a tough 2020, so let’s make 2021 a better year for ourselves!
